About ClimChAlp
The Interreg IIIB Alpine Space project "ClimChAlp - Climate change, impacts and adaptation strategies in the Alpine Space" aims to be a concrete input for a future Alpine Space Program based on alpine climate changes and its potential effects.

By a general assessment of historical climate changes and their impacts as well as by using climate models, future scenarios and their effects on natural hazards, spatial development and key economic sectors (e.g. tourism, mobility, agriculture, forestry, settlements and industries) will be ascertained. Within four thematic work packages, the project will cover different aspects of climate change in the Alpine Space and its surrounding lowlands. Strategic recommendations shall be laid down in a synthesis work package.

One of the most important aims of Interreg III B Alpine Space ClimChAlp project is to support the political decisions regarding the adaptation of natural hazards and risk management activities to the effects of climate changes.

The principle work packages for the implementation of the project are:

WP 5 - Climate Change and Resulting Natural Hazard

WP 6 - Monitoring, Prevention & Management of Specific Effects of Climate Change on Nature

WP 7 - Impacts of Climate Change on Spatial Development and Economy

WP 8 - Flexible Response Network

WP 9 - Synthesis and Processing

About ClimChAlp WP8 "Flexible Response Network"
"WP 8 - Flexible Response Network" aims at gaining an in-depth analysis of current management tools and practices. It will analyze and compare current transnational, national and regional administrative structures and hierarchies, the underlying framework conditions and current reaction options and measures in the field of risk management and risk prevention.

The project partners will identify well proven, effective and innovative structures, methods and measures for risk management and risk prevention.

A transnational flexible response network involving administration and experts for future cooperation and implementation will be established. By the end of WP 8, the partners will have drawn an overview of the different kind of organizations, legislations and technical backgrounds of risk management practices in the Alps.

A SWOT analysis making the needs of transnational coordination visible will be made. Finally, the Partners will have designed and tested a transnational Alpine flexible response network based on best-practice solutions of the Alpine states linked to the respective administrative level.
About PLANALP-DB
The first results of the description and comparison of current national and regional administrative structures and hierarchies, the underlying framework conditions and the identified good-practice examples are compiled in the PLANALP-DB. This database gives an overview about the different kind of organizations or administrative structures responsible for risk management. The structure of the database is adapted to the different activities within the integrated risk management, including prevention, early warning, event management, and restoration.

PLANALP-DB is a database tool which helps to get and compare detailed information about laws, organizations, responsibilities, guidelines, used methods, progress, actual problems to solve, event analysis etc. on the national and regional level in the participating regions and nations of the ClimChAlp project.
